Google App Inventor - 14/07/2010

Google have launched the beta of App Inventor for Android, their smartphone Operating System, that means anyone can make an app for the phone. The service allows people to make Android apps by simply dragging blocks of code together so it is usable to anyone no matter how much computer knowelege they have. The program is made by Google and MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who made the computer game creation program Scratch which has the same concept of dragging blocks together to make games.

Google hope that App Inventor will increase the amount of apps available for the smart phone so that the amount will get closer to the amount of apps available on Apple's App Store. App Inventor is also free compared to the 99$ a year for iPhone Development License which will help increase the amount of apps available for Android.
